Careers at Perflens
We hire engineers, analysts and technicians who like hardware in the real world — wet, hot, vibrating and running three shifts. Five roles are open now, in Jackson and across the US.
Working here
Perflens is small enough that your work leaves the building with your name on it. An engineer who tunes a lighting setup in the optics lab can watch the same cell pass its site acceptance test a few months later. An analyst who flags drift on a Monday sees the retrained model go live that month.
We care about a few habits more than any particular tool:
Open roles
Be the engineer customers meet first and see most. You scope projects on site, run Proof of Value pilots, install and commission systems, and make sure every integration specification survives contact with a real line.
Train, validate and deploy the inspection models that decide whether a part ships. You'll take real samples from the optics lab all the way to quantized models running on Gatepoint hardware, and write the model card for each one.
Own the software that boots, secures and updates every Gatepoint and Lensnode. You'll work across Yocto builds, camera drivers, GStreamer pipelines and the secure update path.
Sit on the Perflens Care desk and decide which alerts deserve a maintenance planner's time. You'll review vibration, ultrasound, thermal and inspection data, verify alerts and help customers act on them.
Run the optics lab day to day. You'll image customer samples for Feasibility Sprints, build lighting and camera setups, and assemble and test Lensnode optics.
Benefits
Medical, dental and vision insurance, covered 100% for employees and 80% for dependents.
A 401(k) with a 5% employer match.
20 days of paid time off, plus 10 holidays a year.
$2,000 a year for courses, books, conferences or training you choose.
Tools and test equipment of your choosing. If a better scope or a faster laptop makes you better at the job, ask.
Travel days are paid days. A day spent getting to a customer site is a working day, and we treat it that way.
Hiring process
Send your résumé and a short note to careers@perflens.com. A person reads every application, and you'll hear back either way.
A conversation with the hiring manager about the role, your experience and what you want next. We share the salary range on this call.
Work through a real problem with the team you'd join — an image set, a vibration spectrum, a boot log or a lighting setup. No trick questions and no unpaid take-home projects.
Visit the lab in Jackson, or meet by video for remote roles. You'll meet the people you would work with and can ask them anything.
Reference checks, then a written offer with salary, benefits and start date. We aim to decide within a week of the final conversation.
How to apply
Email careers@perflens.com with the role title in the subject line. Include a résumé and a few lines about something you built, fixed or measured that you're proud of. A link, a photo or a short write-up tells us more than a cover letter.
Don't see a role that fits? Write anyway. We read speculative applications from people who know their way around a plant floor, a lab bench or a vibration spectrum.
If you need an accommodation at any stage of the process, tell us in your email or at any point afterwards. It won't affect how your application is assessed.
Perflens is an equal opportunity employer. We make employment decisions on the basis of ability, experience and the needs of the role, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by law.
FAQ
Not for every role. For engineering roles, a relevant degree or equivalent experience works. For the Optical Technician and Reliability Analyst roles, hands-on experience counts for as much as formal education.
The Computer Vision Engineer and Embedded Linux Engineer can be based anywhere in the US, with occasional visits to the lab and customer sites. The Field Applications Engineer can also live anywhere in the US and travels about 40% of the time.
Yes. Say which roles interest you in the same email, and we'll talk about where you would fit best on the intro call.
